Recouping

So, not only have we been busy with school starting but Jason had to have foot surgery a couple of weeks ago. He had to have some repair work done from when he broke his toe back when we were in High School. He is doing better now, but it has been a long few weeks for him during his recovery.

We are also preparing to add another furry addition to our family. The Norwegian Forest Cat breeder that I have been getting to know over the last year has a 4 year old adult male that needs a home. So, Timotie (aka Timmy) is coming to live with us here on our "Cat Farm." That will make 5 cats!!! I can't wait! I am so excited to meet him! He is actually Mayzie's (and Larry's) cousin. We are planning on picking him up in Boston next Sunday, September 27th! Did I mention that I am super excited! Here is a picture of him that the breeder sent to me from her iPhone. Doesn't he look so soft and handsome!
I think he will be a great addition to the family! I am not sure what Mayzie will think of him. She is quite the little queen these days! She gets friendlier every day lately! She is so sweet and loving!

Well, I guess I better go decide what to make for supper.....

Fall is here, and school has started!

It is so great to see the weather changing as well as the leaves changing too! This is one of the best reasons to live in Maine! The cooler weather is great too!

We have been busy here in New Sharon. Rylee started 3rd grade last Tuesday. She was so cute and so ready to go back to school. Let's hope that attitude lasts! Here she is on her first day! Her friend, Grace, started Kindergarten. She was so excited and Rylee was so excited to have her in school with her now. Here are a couple of other pictures of her first day. The first one is with Grace and the second one is with her friend, Abby.

Wow! It has been forever since I have been on here!!! What is wrong with me?? Let's see.... 2 weeks in Florida, a week camping in Northern Maine.... where has the summer gone? So many things have happened since I have last updated everyone on our lives here in the Briggs' home. My beloved cat Laertes passed away suddenly on April 19th. (Maybe it was all those Peeps) She died at only 14 months old. It was devastating and I am still recovering. I still have days when it hits me that she is no longer here and the tears start flowing. Anyway, all sadness aside, the breeder sent me Laertes' sister, Amayzin' Mayzie. Seen here:

She is amazing! She is so sweet and loving! I love her so much! Her favorite thing to do is help me with the laundry. She is a great addition to out furry family!

Also, on the day that Laertes passed away, our new puppy, Samson was born. He is a golden retriever and he is the sweetest little puppy.... well not so little. He is 4 months now and already weighs 30 pounds! Yikes!

We also added to the family of animals with a new beta fish. Chandler and I went to the pet store for some cat little and we came home with a fish. I think I have a weakness! :) So, we now have a fish named "Kyle." He has only had one incident with the cats so far.

It really is a crazy house here some days! With all the animals... 4 cats, 2 dogs, 2 hamsters and a fish, and we can't forget the 6 daycare kids and my own 2 children... things can get a little hectic here in our 1500 square foot home! It is a crazy life, but it is our life! (Thanks to Jon and Kate + 8 for that little ditty) Have a great rest of the day! Time to dig out one of those dozens of cook books and make supper.

Happy Easter!

Today has been a very busy day! We started off the day with breakfast at church, followed by an incredible worship service full of wonderful music! It was a wonderful way to start the day! The kids were so cute in their Easter attire! This is them in the car on the way to church... what a fool that boy is!
We got some great pictures of us at church all dressed in our Easter Sunday's best!

Then, when we got home from church Jayne, Steve, Jess, Josh and Jadah came up for dinner and to celebrate the kids' birthdays. The kids had a great time!

Rylee takes her time and opens everything up checking everything out.

Whereas Chandler rips everything open so that he can get it over with and PLAY! He got a power wheels 4-wheeler from Jayne and Steve! He was so excited! I am just glad they got him a helmet to go with it!

Louie partied with us too!

It was a fun day all around!

Easter is upon us. Let us remember why we celebrate the day.

We went to Augusta today to run some arrands and to pick up my Dyson. Poor Dyson had his cord chewed by Louie last week. I guess Louie has a thing for cords... Just shortly after returning home from picking up Dyson, we realized that Louie chewed the power cord to the Playstation3!!! Jason is going to kill him! However, I already called Walmart's electronics department and they have a replacement cord in stock for $20.00. Louie is getting expensive!

Anyway, tomorrow is Easter and so we are having dinner here at home with Jayne, Steve, Jess & Jadah. We will be celebrating the kids' birthdays at the same time so I told the kids they could pick out the dessert. This is what they decided on:Dirt Cake with Peeps! Even Larry likes the looks of it! I will post some pictures of the kids in their Easter clothes tomorrow! Happy Easter!

Good morning. The sun is shining here in New Sharon... FINALLY! It is so nice to see flowers coming up in my flower gardens! The daffodils are up across the street and the birds are chirping... such wonderful signs of spring.

Last night we watched Tale of Despereaux. It was cute. The kids really liked it. Well, this picture here is showing all of the company I had in my chair while I watched the movie!

Last Saturday was Rylee's 8th birthday and she decided to get a couple of Chinese dwarf hamsters with her birthday money. She named them Mocha and Cappuccino. They are very sweet and docile. Here are a couple pics of them. Larry and Capone think they need to keep watch on them all the time!
Larry likes to show them her belly:
I guess that is all for now. Have a great day!

The begining!

I have never done this "blogging" thing before. So, please bear with me as I figure this thing out! Welcome to my family and our little "farm." All that we have for animals right now are 4 cats: Swiper (age 5 years)

Capone (age 1 year),

Quincy (age 1 year)
and my pride and joy, Laertes a.k.a Larry (age 1 year)

Larry is was my 30th birthday present from Jason last year. Larry is a Norwegian Forest cat and she came all the way from Oklahoma. Yes, I said "she." We originally thought that she was a "he." But when she went into heat at 6 months, we realized she was a girl. :) She is my third child. This morning, as usual, she was following me around the house meowing and anytime that I would sit down she was right in my lap. Which, at 18 pounds, she is a lap full!!! She is just wonderful!

We also have 2 dogs: Bailey is our 11 year old Keeshond and the newest addition to the family is Louie. He is 12 weeks old now. He is mix of long-haired Chihuahua and Pomeranian.

That is all for animals now, unless you count the 6 daycare kids that I care for and my own 2 children, Rylee and Chandler. Yes, it is a houseful of children and animals all the time.

I am so blessed to have 2 wonderful children. My daughter, Rylee, is almost 8 and in the second grade. She goes to the Christian School at our church, New Life Community Church in New Vineyard.

My son, Chandler, is almost 5 and we are preparing him for Kindergarten in the fall. I can't believe that both of my children will be in school! Scary! It makes my husband and me feel old! :)

This is all the time I have for this morning! Time for housework!
